What an exciting/amazing/chilling book

I am a freelance writer who--22 years ago!--conducted her first salary negotiation at Dr. Babcock's school when I worked as an editor at Carnegie Mellon. This is a terrific book. As someone who hasn't followed a conventional career path, I judge it just as applicable to somebody who's working in film, theatre, and fiction writing, as it is someone who's advancing up the IT ladder. This is the best kind of feminist scholarship, a book that uses sound quantitative tools, to explore the call and response of the personal AND political. If I didn't get anything else from the book, this would be the gem: I promise to be more of an "oyster person" than a "turnip person" each day. Or, as an old boyfriend used to say (and practice): "Everything can be negotiated."
